Based on the tape marks on the floor at 6 foot intervals the people arriving to vote in the first hours are quietly lined up. With the (inter)national effort to minimize transmission of Covid-19 almost everyone in the line wore a face mask. As a national (General) election it is a federal event, rather than a state one. So one interpretation of legal powers is that only poll workers are under the local jurisdiction to wear a mask; all others are recommended or requested to mask up, but cannot be denied the right to vote if unmasked. A box of available masks was on hand for those wishing one, but in fact almost every one came with their own. One man refused, another had a medical condition precluding a mask. One woman apologized for leaving home in haste and gladly accepted one. But the other 760 voters wore a mask.

This is the first time the NJNG has supported a general election. This state active-duty mission is being undertaken at the request of the County Boards of Elections. Political scribble stitchery.
I usually produce something for the General Election, the only rule being that it has to be finished before the result is announced. I'm usually frantically stitching away on the final evening.
I have absolutely no idea where this is going: book/textile piece/study notes. Who cares.
Stitch on to ripped calico which has a paper towel glued on top. The towel came from a posh London hotel and is very tactile.

I used to know a load of student anarchists at Uni. The type who'd rail against 'the system' while living off the dole, toped up with allowances from mummy and daddy. My favourite was the one who was this wild child, going on road protests because her dad was an oil millionaire, and having breaks from tree sit-ins to be flown snow-boarding in daddy's private jet. Really.
